USBE Performance & Spending
These two interactive dashboards, one called Performance, the other called Spending, show where money is spent within Utah’s public K-12 education system as well as student performance, and performance improvement, compared to spending. These dashboards integrate data that is collected and published by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). These dashboards are intended to make it easier for the public to understand and interpret education spending and student performance in Utah.
Sources include Student Assessment of Growth and Excellence (SAGE) Reports, and Student Growth (Performance Improvement) Percentiles (SGP) Reports as well as local education agency (LEA) Annual Financial Reports (AFRs), Average Daily Membership (ADM) reports.
One important item to note is that capital expenses (such as building and bond costs) are not reflected in common sources of reporting on education spending but the cost of buildings and other capital expenses are a sizeable portion of education spending. These dashboards have a toggle function that permits a user to see spending, including and excluding these capital expenses.
